Job Summary

The Financial Crime Operations Supervisory - Transaction Monitoring and Sanctions Screening will execute Financial Crime standards to ensure improvement in regulatory and reputational risk, to ensure regulatory commitments are fulfilled effectively to make Absa Bank Mozambique a ‘Go To’ bank.

Job Description

Serve as a single point of alignment between Financial Crime Compliance and Financial Crime Operations.
Delivery for central led Financial Crime Operations Programs.
Ensuring that Bank’s regulatory commitments are aligned to business execution capabilities and capacity.
Ensure country adherence to the Group Financial Crime Key Risk Framework.
Ensuring that businesses and support functions have full line of sight of all Financial Crime demand/ pipeline requirements.
Seeking alignment between Financial Crime 1LOD requirements and enablement services.
Escalation of key business cluster items to Steering Committee.
In the context of above provide strategic governance and first line oversight to Financial Crime Programs across the Bank.
Responsible for managing the key inter-relationships / dependencies between the overall strategic intent and business planning and execution functions.
Engage with internal audit and management assurance to develop methods to audit the adherence to the governance framework. The focus should be on the creation of evidence to ensure that all decisions made on change in the bank are auditable.
Communicate directly with the Financial Crime Operations Manager and Business Management Teams to ensure that they understand the operating objectives and standards of performance and that they take ownership of these objectives and standards and communicate them to their teams.
Contribute to the review and update of the department’s organisation structure and role descriptions on at least an annual basis to ensure that they are fit for purpose.
Control and Oversight: Create a standard methodology for the monitoring and testing of the above processes/procedures (ensuring that customer experience is safeguarded) by 1LOD and Financial Crime Compliance.
Transaction Monitoring and Sanctions Screening: address appropriately the request for information and sanctions screening alerts. Ensure proper support for center colleagues on AML/CFT alerts.
Responsible overall for driving the control issue objectives and supporting change initiatives (including in-flight alignment) across all Absa Group as mandated by the Financial Crime Committee
Address escalations in terms of mandate and compliance to targets.
Attend Programed Steering Committee meetings
Provide guidance on escalated risks, issues and decisions.
Monitor progress and support by exception as necessary.
Provide guidance on risk and issue management as required
Ensure effective interaction with Country Leadership and keep them informed of key issues at all times
Participate in internal and external forums as a means to establish and maintain networks in the financial industry and keep abreast of industry developments
Build and maintain relationships with the head's of clusters, business unit managers to ensure that Financial Crime Execution capabilities are integrated with their expectations and requirements
