Job Purpose/Mission

The Data Specialist will be overseeing the development monitoring of database performance, interpret raw data and turn it into usable feedback.

The Data Specialist will utilise KIPs to interpret numbers and patterns mean and to communicate the findings in a way it can be used to take decisions. Additionally, this position requires drawing meaning from data by collecting and cleaning up the data ensuring that the information is accurate and without error. Success in this position will be determined by you need to have a passion for numbers, the ability to extract useful insights from processed data, and the skill to present these insights in the visual form accurately.

This position will report to the Manager of Business Strategy and will carry out activities in collaboration with all departments.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of all data analytic tools to safeguard information integrity and availability.
  • Extract & deliver periodic as well as ad hoc KPIs in the format of reports in a timely manner to key stakeholders to drive fact-based decision making.
  • Technical proficiency regarding database management, techniques for data mining and segmentation.
  • Guarantee data quality, correctness, and readiness, to give assurance prior to its usage share with end users.
  • Support the month end reports generation to management committee and ENGIE Energy Access (Africa)Group.
  • Staying up to date with the latest trends of technologies in data analytics (data visualization software: Tableau & Power BI, etc.), to implementing improvements where relevant.

Knowledge and skills

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree qualified in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Commerce, or another relevant field.
  • 3+ years of experience in strategic and/or analytical role
  • Good analytical skills with a knack to large volumes of data sets management.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work alone or collaborate with team members.
  • Collaborative, hands on team player.
  • Advanced Excel (functions, formulas, and pivot)
  • Good stakeholder management skills.
  • SQL knowledge is mandatory.


Qualifications:

  • Ability to deliver data related requests by yourself or with the support of others with Quality, accuracy and in time.
  • Detailed oriented individual.
  • Quality of stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize tasks at once.


Language(s):

Fluent English and Portuguese are mandatory.


Technology:

  • Advanced MS Office user
  • Experience in Excel, Tableau, SQL, or other data analysis and visualization tools
