Project: Supporting Trade and Development in Mozambique – PROMOVE Comércio is a project financed by the European Union and implemented by DAI. The programme aims to contribute to improve trade facilitation aspects of the Ease of Doing Business by reinforcing Government capacity to implement trade facilitation reforms (EPA and WTO TFA), address Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) quality infrastructure weaknesses and reinforces the knowledge and capacity of private sector stakeholders regarding EPA opportunities.

Expert profile: Project Assistant

Key Tasks, Duties And Responsibilities Of The Project Assistant

  • Liaison with stakeholders including correspondence with cities and national institutions in Mozambique;
  • Keeping records of project documentation, official correspondence, and any project outputs;
  • Organisation of fixed and ad hoc team meetings (sending the invite, sharing the agenda, track responses and drafting of minutes);
  • Organisation of Team Leader meetings with stakeholders (sending the invite, sharing the agenda, track responses and drafting of minutes);
  • Travel and event management including organisation of physical events, online training courses/webinars, study trips, workshops etc.;
  • Assists with the logistics associated with the organisation of physical training programmes (rooms, projectors etc.)
  • Organisation of logistical arrangements for project teams;
  • Maintains tidy and organised project files for ease of reference and access, including consistent organisation of project folders;
  • Maintaining office accounts and ensuring first level administrative control of the project’s expenses; ensuring monthly financial reports are checked and approved by the TL and submitted in a timely manner to the Project Director/Project Manager;
  • Assisting in the preparation of the budgets, collecting offers, submitting payments etc. and ensuring all original financial records are kept on file;
  • Maintaining office equipment, control of office supplies and supervision of office support and cleaning services;
  • Conducts translation and interpretation as required;
  • Liaison with visiting international experts: assist with arrangement of accommodation, arrivals/departures

Qualifications & Skills

  • A university degree in a relevant field (e.g. business administration, economics, political science);
  • 3 - 5 years of work experience in a relevant field; experience with donor-funded or trade and development projects is an asset;
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and reporting skills;
  • Excellent English and Portuguese verbal and written communication skills essential;
  • IT-skills: Advanced use of MS Office (Excel notably);
  • Accurate, independent working style;
  • Team player, flexible and strong communication skills.

Location: Maputo, Mozambique

Additional information: The Supporting Trade and Development in Mozambique – PROMOVE Comércio project will be implemented until July 2025. This is a full-time position starting ASAP for the duration of one year and, subject to satisfactory performance feedback, may be extended until the end of the project.
