The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is hiring a Health Safety & Security Assistant, for Pemba in Cabo Delgado.
Job Description
Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
Assist with the implementation of the staff safety measures as stipulated in the NRC Global HSS Minimum Standards and other regulatory documents, under the direction of the Staff Safety Manager.
Promote a strong, holistic staff safety culture at the Area level.
Report on threats/changes in dynamics which may change security situation for NRC in the Area.
Maintain strong and extensive information sharing networks with a range of actors, as well as maintain NRC’s reputation as a principled humanitarian actor.
Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining information network drawing on a range of sources including UN, NGO partners, social and conventional media, government, military and personal contacts;
- Liaison and coordination with external actors, including the NGO and UN community, both for information gathering (as above) as well as mutual support within in the operating environment;
- Implementation of HSS measures in line with HSS Minimum Operations and Infrastructure Standards across the Area, including office, accommodation and program locations;
- Incident reporting (both internal NRC incidents and contextual developments) to the Area and HSS Manager, as well as follow up at field level where necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma; university degree preferred;
- Fluency in Portuguese, both written and verbal;
- Fluency in the local languages in the area;
- Fluency in English is highly desirable;
- Fluent in use of MS Office and social media platforms;
- Good knowledge and experience of working in Cabo Delgado;
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts;
- Experience in dealing with institutional actors and government authorities;
- Ability to multitask, assess, organize and execute with minimal oversight or direction;;
- Operate well in austere and sometimes hardship environments.
