Short Description/ Purpose of Job

The Communications & Community Relations Specialist is responsible for producing engaging communications to build positive brand awareness for Sasol to increase awareness in Inhambane Province, mainly in Inhassoro and Govuro Districts. The role will produce compelling communications collateral, execute communication activities, and support the successful delivery of the communications and brand strategy.

 

Recruitment Description/ Key Accountabilities

Internal Communication:

  • Implement the internal communications plan for proactively aligning employees around our purpose, values and strategy;
  • Plan, research, write and publish relevant, up-to-date and engaging stories on Sasol’s corporate social investment;
  • Create timely and engaging news content aligned to Sasol’s communications and brand strategy;
  • Monitor daily media and identify news opportunities for Sasol and leverage internal opportunities across all communication channels;
  • Broadcasting and dialogue via social media, internet content creation and management, including, campaigning, monitoring, and moderating;
  • Content creation & campaign development for internal use;
  • Support the achievement of Sasol’s objectives by providing exceptional communications support and stories about the impact of Sasol activities;
  • Produce compelling internal communications to increase engagement of Sasol’s staff and stakeholders;
  • Create and maintain a content bank of stories and images for use across Sasol’s campaigns and collateral;
  • Identify opportunities to develop new tools, tactics and initiatives to enhance communications across the operating entity;
  • Manage internal Events at Central Processing Facility (CPF) Level;
  • Provide input into annual strategic planning, budget process and related activities.

 

External Communication

  • Promote and protect the company’s reputation by developing and executing media and public relation and strategies and plans;
  • Produce relevant and compelling corporate communications collateral including media releases, speeches, editorial, education materials, information statements, presentations, newsletters, research activities, annual reports and brochures;
  • Support the implementation of strategies to engage communities and local stakeholders (Govuro and Inhassoro);
  • Assist the department in responding to local media request;
  • Interview key stakeholders and develop engaging communication content for a variety of media and audiences;
  • Monitor daily media and identify news opportunities for Sasol and leverage external opportunities across all communication channels;
  • Content creation & campaign development for external use;
  • Create and maintain a content bank of stories and images for use across Sasol’s campaigns and collateral;
  • Liaise with local media (Inhassoro and Govuro community radio) and ensure company projects‘ content/ information is widely covered and disseminated, ensure participation of community members and stakeholders in the debates;
  • Ensure branding and events management at local level (Govuro and Temane);
  • Work with the communication’s team to ensure consistent communication across all offline and online channels, including social media, radio, website, newsletters, staff portal and others identified in the communications strategy.

 

Formal Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communication, Journalism or related field.

 

Min Experience

5+ years

  • Proven experience in corporate communications or copywriting;
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to write effectively for different audiences in Portuguese and English;
  • Strong track record of influencing and building collaborative relationships with highly diverse stakeholders, including communities, media, associations and Government;
  • Proven ability to design, develop and implement an integrated communications strategy using a range of channels and tools;
  • Excellent writing skills for communications content relevant for diverse audiences, recognizing channel and format mix;
  • Ability to engage local communities through appropriate communication approach;
  • Ability to navigate a highly complex organizational structure and operational processes
