Purpose of the job:

Working in close collaboration with the Sasol Project Team, the Senior Specialist Project Management must possess an excellent technical knowledge within civil engineering field and will be responsible for managing multiple site community development projects entirely from start to finish including budgeting, scheduling, scope of work preparation, design calculations and construction administration services.

Key responsibilities:

Working under the requirements of the social investment standards for civil engineering projects, your responsibilities will include:

• Completion of project pre-planning processes, such as land surveys, project estimation assessments and budgeting, inspection of existing structures, creation of design plans and review potential safety issues;

• Collaborate with designated consulting engineers or architects and review designs to ensure that they are in accordance with project / study requirements and company and stakeholder objectives and are produced in a timely and cost-effective manner.

• Obtaining internal approvals and external permits and licenses from appropriate authorities for social investment projects;

• Preparing scopes of work and overseeing preparation of tender documents and review tenders and produce technical adjudications / recommendations to the Supply Chain department;

• Support the implementation of special projects such as CNG Development Fund, Quality of Education initiative amongst others;

• Managing construction and generating reports focusing on project progress, job status, costing and billing and monitoring project costs ensuring compliance by the contractors and document all requirements;

• Review Contractor documentation for compliance with project specifications and review compliance with Company SHE standards and the Country safety standards and construction guidelines for public infrastructures;

• Oversee and conduct site inspections, and provide technical support to all contractors staff and provide required training to manage all projects efficiently to ensure work is carried out in a safe manner, complying with and actively contributing to the health, safety and welfare of fellow workers, visitors, clients, community and the environment;

• Developing and producing health and safety documentation, and carrying out risk assessments, in coordination with the SHE department;

• Provide coaching and guidance to less experienced staff and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work;

• Work closely with the Project and Engineering teams and consultants to ensure that stakeholders or beneficiaries objectives are met in a timely manner;

• Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum qualifications and experience required:

Bachelor’s Degree in a Civil Engineering, building sciences or relevant field with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the fields of civil engineering and construction.

To be successful in this job you need to already be able to do or have most of the following:

• Professional registration and accreditation from Ordem dos Engenheiros de Moçambique Proven experience in managing multiple construction projects simultaneously;

• In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles in Mozambique;

• Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards;

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications as well as construction/ project management software;

• Strong written and verbal skills including public speaking in Portuguese and English.
