Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management 30%
  • Provide overall management for Let the Children Come (LCC) project, carefully monitoring progress, ensuring all relevant parties are clear on the goal, outcomes, outputs, planning and budgeting, targets, choices of models/approaches/tools for intervention, targets, reporting requirements and deadlines for the project. The role will ensure that implementation is in accordance to plans, targets are reached and reports submitted as provided in the SO Reporting Guidelines and as per approved project documents.
  • Oversee the implementation of all Faith & Development (F&D) programmes, leading monthly meetings with field staff to review progress and expenditure, revise plans and address any issues in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure appropriate project management tools are in place and actively used to track targets and spend against the relevant ATTs and budgets on a monthly basis, both at district and national level.
  • Meet with national office finance on a monthly basis to review status of F&D spend against budgets, inclusive of LCC budgets, identify any issues and ensure that financial reports are accurate and timely.
  • Update LCC financial projections on a monthly basis, ensuring that spend is well managed. Identifying any potential carry forward in a timely fashion and ensuring it it is managed through the appropriate procedures.
  • Conduct regular management and monitoring visits to the field to assess progress on F&D plans inclusive of arears where LCC project implementation is taking place areas to verify that activities are taking place as planned and to support on identifying and resolving any issues in good time.
  • Ensure that Line Manager and National Operations Team Leader (NOTL) are kept up to date with any issues arising and that issues are escalated and resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Submit monthly F&D project management reports inclusive of LCC to Line Manager, including key achievements against plans, variance explanation for financial report and implementation targets, and key priorities for the next month.
  • Ensure annual plans and budgets are prepared, reviewed and submitted on time.
  • Keep a clear record of all F&D programming requirements, inclusive of LCC project ensuring that plans are in place to deliver on all requirements within the required deadlines.
  • Technical Support 30%
  • Maintain a current understanding of all relevant F&D programme approaches, including a working knowledge of relevant project models, standards, principles and WVI guidelines.
  • Ensure that all necessary technical resources and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials for Faith and Development activities are available in accessible, inclusive and locally appropriate formats for use by field teams.
  • Ensure all F&D technical support to F&D programming is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Support field staff to identify F&D related training needs, develop F&D capacity building plans for AP teams (DOs and FCs) and community partners (including faith leaders). This should include a blended approach of different methodologies designed to be engaging and accessible for each specific target group.
  • Deliver capacity building support, such as training and coaching to field staff, ensuring that they have the necessary technical capacities to train and support field staff and local partners.
  • Ensure that the costs of relevant technical resources and IEC materials are costed and included in annual plans and budgeting guidelines, supporting on procurement of F&D technical resources and IEC material throughout the year, assuring quality and availability.
  • Conduct periodic technical support visits to review how field staff, community groups and partners are using technical resources and IEC material to assure effectiveness, relevance and impact. Providing hands on training where needed and taking note of any changes required to the material.
  • Work with District teams and partners to understand how F&D approaches need to be adapted to local context and advise programme staff on how to effectively include these adaptations.
  • Establish and maintain contact with other organisations involved in similar F&D work, to identify opportunities for improving project implementation.
  • Work with field staff to develop and review annual, quarterly and monthly plans based on FTP & LCC plans, ensuring that they are regularly updated based on lessons learned, progress to date and new approaches.
  • Provide technical support and training to NO Technical Managers as required, to support effective integration of F&D across all programmes.
  • Update Spiritual Landscape Analysis annually to inform programmatic decisions around addressing socio-cultural and spiritual barriers to Child Wellbeing
  • Lead on development of new F&D funding opportunities
  • Evidence & accountability: 20%
  • Maintain a strong and current knowledge of on F&D in context of FTP and LCC M&E requirements, leading on coordination with DM&E and field teams and establishing clear processes, plans and timeframes for all M&E requirements to be completed, reviewed and submitted on time.
  • Work closely with the DM&E team to ensure that all appropriate M&E systems are in place to meet FTP and LCC reporting, baseline and evaluation requirements.
  • Establish and consistently follow a clear process by which all F&D data is reviewed, verified and approved by NO DM&E team & line manager, before being shared or reported internally or externally.
  • Lead preparation, review and submission of quarterly and annual reporting for F&D in general and MI2 Indicator and LCC – ensuring that all reports are reviewed and approved by DM&E and line manager before being submitted.
  • Support the development of the FTP semi-annual and annual report, ensuring all appropriate information is available for F&D components.
  • Collate and review national F&D data collected from all programmes, ensuring it is validated by DM&E team and stored in an organised and accessible format, to enable consistent and accurate reporting.
  • Accurate national F&D data to be prepared and shared for quarterly completion of NO strategy scorecard and regional F&D and advocacy reporting requirements, including DM&E team validated data
  • Active participation in programme baselines and evaluations, facilitating involvement of external technical partners and faith leaders as necessary.
  • In collaboration with DM&E and Communications colleagues, lead on writing impact and evidence documentation to capture experience and learnings from LCC and wider F&D programming that can be used in different forums to inspire, influence, equip and empower others.
  • Gather good practice examples and learnings from project sites, and hold quarterly learning and reflection meetings with TD TCs & relevant field staff across WV Moz’s programming, to facilitate peer learning and share lessons learned/good practice.
  • Proactively share examples of good practice and innovation with LCC Regional Manager and SARO’s Faith and Transformational Development Lead.
  • Prepare NO Annual F&D Report, compiling information regarding the overall progress and quality of F&D implementation, documenting impact, successes and lessons learnt from integrated approach to F&D, including any challenges and changes in behaviour that are being seen across WV Moz.
  • Ensure the timely provision of high quality programme data and relevant information for use in proposal development, external engagement, evidencing impact and adapting technical resources.
  • Integration & Collaboration 10%
  • Ensure strong collaboration and joint planning with all relevant parties
  • Proactively seek to integrate F&D programming with other sectors
  • Participate in all necessary planning and collaboration forums, nationally and regionally
  • Coordination & Communication: 10%
  • Maintain regular communication with all relevant parties, internal and external.
  • Prepare and lead programmes inspired Devotions for WV Moz staff on a quarterly basis.
  • Serve as WV Mozambique focal point for F&D work within the WV regional and global partnership
  • General

Required Professional Experience

  • At least five years’ previous relevant experience, including at least two years working in a Christian faith-based environment.
  • Proven experience in successfully managing projects, controlling budgets and building good donor relationships
  • Experience in capacity building and equipping others to deliver technical programme activities (Train-the-Facilitator) preferably with experience of mentoring and coaching others to deliver F&D Core Project Models and other related approaches.
  • Experience working in rural Mozambique and also with international stakeholders is essential
  • Experience in communicating Mozambican realities in engaging and compelling ways with diverse audiences.
  • Experience in a leadership role in a church or ministry organisation
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, and other similar software
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (theology, social sciences, community development).
  • Church or Children’s ministry training is a strong advantage

Preferred Knowledge And Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Portuguese and English
  • Strong planning, management and organisational skills
  • Strong team work skills and ability to coordinate diverse stakeholders around a common goal
  • Accuracy in record keeping and good data analysis skills
  • Accustomed to leading by example and demonstrated integrity and Christian principles in professional life
  • Ability to communicate complicated technical issues in a simple manner that can be understood by non-technical people and to provide ongoing coaching in these areas.
  • Conceptual and biblical understanding of and commitment to working with the most vulnerable
  • Knowledge and understanding of approaches to promote spiritual nurture of children in the Mozambican context.
  • Knowledge of WV’s F&D approaches is a strong advantage – willingness to learn is essential.
