Summary:

 

Counterpart International is seeking a Driver for an anticipated 5-year USDA McGovern-Dole Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program which aims to reduce hunger and improve literacy and nutrition among school-age students, especially girls. The Driver will be responsible to facilitate transport services as required for the smooth implementation of the project. This is full time position, reporting to the HR/Admin Manager at the field office in Maputo, Mozambique. The applicant should be a Mozambique national or have the legal right to work/reside in Mozambique.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Drive office vehicles for transportation of authorized personnel and goods;
  • Ensure vehicle is safe and availability of all the required documents and supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, staff contact numbers, map of the city/country, first aid kit and necessary spare parts;
  • Delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items;
  • Facilitate airport pick-ups for office personnel and visitors;
  • Ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs;
  • Log all trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing etc.;
  • Provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans;
  • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs;
  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, car washing etc.;
  • Performs minor repairs and arrange for other repairs to ensure that the vehicle is kept clean;
  • Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents;
  • Other office duties such as photocopying, scanning etc.;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

 

  • Secondary Education;
  • Valid Driver’s license of at least 3 classes;
  • 5 years’ work experience as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair;
  • Fluency in Portuguese and preferred English proficiency;
  • Must be extremely reliable, trustworthy and a good team worker;
  • Flexible in working hours.

Preferred

 

  • Certificate in Mechanics is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of local languages of the area would be an asset
  • Strong sense of responsibility;
  • Punctuality and commitment;
