Role purpose: The purpose of this role is to insure that the reconciliation /controls process of all services and products takes place effectively on a daily basis and be acutely aware of all the matters affecting the business and partners from a Finance perspective, responsible for organizing data related to all services and products on M-Pesa. Utilize technical expertise to ensure Data is accurate and high-quality. Analyse, designed data, and presented in a way that assists Finance team make better decisions.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership
- Responsible for the timely set-up reconciliation and reports of all service and product on Finance Risk team.
- Performing analysis to assess quality and meaning of data.
- Using automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources
- Create and Monitor the alerts to identify the incidents/anomaly’s and report on time.
- Support the daily processing, validation and research for all the Finance Risk team stakeholders
- Extract daily reports of anomalies and report them to the units responsible for the accounts
- Automation of daily Recon tasks
- Investigate, identify the root cause of all exceptions in the Reconciliation and propose solutions for regularization so that all issues / problems with recon process are resolved in a timely manner.
- Developing and maintaining databases, data systems – reorganizing data in a readable format
- Analyse, and interpret patterns and trends in service and product data sets that could be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction
Core competencies, knowledge and experience
- Microsoft Suit (Access, Excel, PPT, Visual Basic, Projects, Visio)
- Strong analytical skills into business context are required with Fluent in English and Portuguese
- Minimum of 3 year’s experience in the Information Technology field, 2 year’s in Data ETL and 2 in management Reporting.
- Reports and dashboards
- SQL Business Intelligence, Power BI, Business Objects, Oracle BI, Qliksense
- Experience with GSM voice, data and mobile money technologies as well as operations, products and services is desirable;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent research skills, resourceful and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Excellent time management and organizational skills

Must have technical / professional qualifications
- Degree In Computer Science
- Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark | Amazon Web Services? Redshift (for data warehousing)|Azure |Python, Java, and Scala programing languages |Data APIs|Data base system (SQL and NoSQL)certification
Key performance indicators
- Clean all orphan transaction. Ensure on daily bases that there’s a data on the recon System to perform reconciliation and all open items reported are close on time.
- Communicate effectively in presenting information clearly to internal and external counterparts
- Maintain a positive attitude and flexibility to do whatever needed to get the job done
- Rigorous attention to detail; extreme accuracy with numerical calculation.
- Ensuring all SLAs are met through active stakeholder engagement.
