Short Description/ Purpose of Job
Instrumentation Learner is required to complete a development Programme in South Africa. The Programme is structured to expose the learner to different business units within Sasol to give them the opportunity to apply their theoretical exposure in a real business.
Recruitment Description/ Key Accountabilities
- Ensure full compliance to SHERQ requirements and business systems
- Understand application of theoretical knowledge (practical instrumentation)
- Understand the Sasol Operations Framework and how to operate in it
- Gain understanding of Sasol's value chain
- Understand failure modes of equipment
- Understand the principles and administration of corrosion monitoring within petrochemical facility.
- Exposure to detail engineering under supervision.
- Understand dosing philosophies and their effects on plant corrosion flow diagrams.
- Apply engineering toolbox and theory to solve complex problems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC) different types and application of Instrument impulse lines.
- Demonstrate an understanding on testing, calibrating, installing, repair, and inspect manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices. of the planning for maintaining flow equipment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of safe working conditions when working with flow equipment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the planning for maintaining temperature equipment.
- Understand fundamentals of electricity
- Demonstrate understanding of elementary chemical principles and their applications in process industries
- Understand the general principles of process instrumentation.
- Construct Basic Electronic Circuits
- Analysing data and presenting findings in written reports and demonstrate problem solving and troubleshooting skills. fault finding techniques on field instrumentation
- Read and interpret instrumentation drawings
- Demonstrate an understanding in performing general maintenance on the equipment and design new measuring and recording equipment. of the Principles of Process Control Loops
- Install, test and maintain a basic pneumatic system

Formal Education
- High School / School Diploma or similar (System or electronic Engineering)
- Industrial Institute National Diploma (Diploma do Instituto Industrial) – Advantage
