Job Function

  • Play a key role in financial reporting monthly including month-end close processes
  • Analysis, budgeting and forecasting
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to all stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with the Imperial financial processes, policies and disciplines
  • Identify control and reporting gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure with compliance with IFRS
  • Speak Portuguese advantageous


Responsibilities

IFRS

  • Assistance on complex accounting transactions - new acquisitions, disposals, consolidations
  • Assistance with all new accounting standards- interpretation and understanding
  • Providing solutions to the business on how to comply with all new accounting standards
  • Manage IFRS 16 data collection on K-IFRS 16 system captured by Operational entities and validation of data on K-IFRS 16
  • Preparation of monthly IFRS 16 recons- K-IFRS 16 to HFM including correct translation of foreign currency leases to rands
  • Attend to all IFRS 16 queries from head office and auditors
  • Assist with complex IFRS 16 queries
  • Preparation of the IFRS 9 ECL calculation for the Group. Review of divisional IFRS 9 ECL calculations.
  • Performance of the annual impairment tests (goodwill, Investments etc)
  • Review of foreign exposure sanity checks
  • Performance of hyperinflationary adjustment and foreign exchange translations

Tax

  • Review monthly tax computations for divisions. Drill down to BU’s where issues are identified
  • Assist with taxation issues
  • Prepare the utilisation of the assessed loss calculations as well as for the budget and forecast scenarios
  • Ensure that assessed losses are efficiently utilised, if applicable
  • Ensure that all deferred tax assets recognised meet the recognition criteria per IFRS
  • Ensure that tax in Africa entities are correctly calculated
  • Prepare monthly tax reports (SA and Africa entities)
  • Keep up to date with tax developments in African countries
  • Prepare annual tax packs for entities as required

Month End & Reporting

  • Preparation of the monthly packs
  • Preparation of quarterly FRRC packs
  • Preparation of the quarterly ALCO reports
  • Review Hyperion packs for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budget packs and presentation
  • Assist with the bi-annual preparation of the forecasts
  • Preparation of detailed capex schedules for the group

Gearing & Dividends

  • Ensure that the individual divisions conform to the debt/equity ratios of the group
  • Calculation and distribution of the bi-annual dividends with related liquidity and solvency tests
  • Calculation of dividends for the budget and forecast scenarios
  • Prepare gearing calculations where necessary

Project Management

  • Provide assistance to various projects that require assistance on accounting, compliance and tax matters

Annual Financial Statement review

  • Prepare and/or review of annual financial statements for statutory entities within the Group

Adhoc

  • Provide assistance to CFO as required
  • Assist with special requests and projects as required
  • Conduct reviews of trial balances/GL reconciliations as required
  • Assist with analysis of financial statements to drive efficiencies


Qualifications

  • CA qualification with minimum 5 years post articles experience
  • Transport, Supply chain, Manufacturing experience advantageous
  • Strong Hyperion and Sage experience


Skilled and requirements

  • Strong accounting and consolidations application in a multi-currency environment
  • Up to date and sound IFRS knowledge and application e.g. IAS29, IFRS16, IAS12, IFRS15 knowledge
  • Strong tax knowledge in South African and Africa entities
  • Strong analytical and evaluation ability
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong planning and organising skills
  • Strong team player but also able to work independently
  • Proficiency in Excel
