Counterpart International is seeking a Warehouse Assistant for an anticipated 5-year USDA McGovern-Dole Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program which aims to reduce hunger and improve literacy and nutrition among school-age students, especially girls. The Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for supporting the general operations and activities, including shipment and taking deliveries, conducting stock checks, recording warehouse transactions, storage of inventory, and guaranteeing the safe and efficient operation of the product handling in the warehouse. This is full time position, reporting to the Commodities & School Feeding Manager at the field office in Matola, Mozambique. Position is open to Mozambican nationals only.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule  (load, pack, wrap, label, deliver);
  • Receive and process warehouse stock products (pick, unload, label, store);
  • Perform inventory controls and keep quality standards high for audits;
  • Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization;
  • Complete diary logs into inventory;
  • Report any discrepancies;
  • Carry out minor maintenance or repair of storeroom material;
  • Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers;
  • Operate and maintain preventively warehouse equipment;
  • Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations;
  • Carry out minor maintenance or repair of storeroom material;

  • Any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor

Required

  • Secondary or Technical Education, 5 years’ experience as Warehouse Assistant;
  • Professional certification in Procurement, Warehouse Management an added advantage;
  • Proven working experience as a Warehouse Assistant;
  • Proficiency in inventory database systems;
  • Previous experience in similar responsibilities, preferably with NGO;
  • Experience in working together and supervise the work of casual workers in the warehouse;
  • Knowledge of storage and physical arrangement of various shape and type of warehouse items;
  • Highly flexible and ability to work in a team;
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skill;
  • Language Requirements – Portuguese, English, Ronga or Changana;
  • Computer literacy required – (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email system, Internet browsing) excellent.
